Naming Your Bunny – How to Name your Rabbit – Rabbit Names

Naming your pets can be just as stressful as picking out names for your kids. You want them to reflect their nature but at the same time have a name that is easy to remember, hard to abbreviate, easy to say, easy to spell, and easy for the animal to associate itself with. There have been a few studies that show the effects and influence a name can have on people and we may not even be aware of it. For instance, one study showed that names may affect a person’s chance at being hired and another showed that children with longer names used longer words when spelling. Whilst naming your bunny won’t affect its spelling or chances of being hired is name is still very important to the family. We have put together an easy naming system with some fun, unique, popular and fabulous rabbit name ideas for you to take the stress out choosing your rabbit name.

Naming Your Bunny – How to Name your Rabbit – Rabbit Names

How to Name Your Rabbit

You may already have a clear idea in your head as to what you want to name your rabbit until you actually got to get choose it and suddenly the name just does not seem to fit.

Just like people, rabbits have their own little quirks, looks, characters and even feel about them they may look like a Harry or a Hop. So don’t get too fixated on their name before you have chosen them, and it may be best to choose at least two or three.

Make sure the family are all on board with the name if you are getting a pet rabbit for the family. It can be fun going through the lists of names like the ones we have put together for you. We have even categorized them into categories like Irish Names, Popular names, etc. and broken them down into unisex, boy and girl names.

Try to choose a name with two syllables or less this is especially necessary if you have younger kids who may find it difficult to pronounce longer names.

It is also best to try and avoid names that sound or are the same as other pets you may have or have had. Try not to give them names that could be associated with any family members, friends or guests and you most certainly do not want to give them a name that sounds anything like your boss’s.

Try not to use names that have any offensive associations, can be used as cues and are a mouthful.

It is better to use shorter names and a name that the whole family likes as it then makes the pet more endearing to everyone in the house. Remember that names that are too long will end up being abbreviated and for an animal it can get quite confusing especially for recall commands.
